AeroTech N3120X-PS 75mm DMS™ Disposable Motor System™
This is a pre-order, will ship March 2026
AeroTech/Quest is pleased to announce the Tripoli certification of our new N3120X-PS 75mm DMS™ Disposable Motor System™ rocket motor. This powerful new rocket motor has been specifically designed for use as an upper stage sustainer motor for the $10,000+ AeroTech Space Challenge™ competition. This new event challenges individuals, groups and teams to fly to the “Karman line” or 100 km (62 miles) above mean sea level (MSL) using certified Aerotech high-power rocket motors totaling no more than 40,960 N-sec. This new 75mm DMS rocket motor is perfect for upper stage use coupled with our 98mm O5500X DMS rocket motor as the booster, in an attempt to reach and surpass the defined edge of space. The new N3120X-PS 75mm DMS rocket motor will be available for shipping March 1st, 2026. The N3120X-PS DMS rocket motor delivers an impressive 10,329 N-sec (2,322.2 lb.-sec) of total impulse, making it the highest performing 75mm DMS rocket motor currently available, with a 3.31 second burn time and an all-up weight of 18.08 lbs. (8,200 g). As no hardware is required, the new N3120X-PS DMS rocket motor is nearly 2 lbs. lighter than our N2700W-PS 75mm RMS™ rocket motor. Featuring a 4-grain core burning propellant design using AeroTech’s aerospace-grade Propellant X™ propellant formulation, the peak thrust is 4,084 N (918.2 lbs.)with an average thrust of approximately 3,120 N (701.5 lbs.) and a propellant weight of 4,546 g (10.02 lbs.).. AeroTech’s Propellant X is an analog of NASA’s Space Shuttle propellant and is also a 75mm analog to AeroTech’s 98mm O5500X-PS DMS rocket motor with half the power. The new N3120X-PS DMS rocket motor is also a great single-stage “go to choice” for max impulse in a 75mm rocket motor. Although the N3120X-PS produces delay smoke, it is a “plugged” rocket motor that does not include an ejection charge and requires the utilization of an electronically activated recovery system. Additionally, the N3120X-PS does not feature a thrust ring, as it has been designed and intended for upper staging. Customer must supply their own or provide a method for forward end retention and restraining.
